Inspired by the life of Maud and Gus Wagner.
Maud was a aerialist and contortionist; Gus was a tattoo artist.
When Gus met Maud: it was love at first sight. But she had other plans… Agreeing to a date, Maud had one condition: Gus was to teach her the art of tattooing. A deal was made and the rest was history!
They soon married and spent the rest of their lives together travelling with the circus, performing and tattooing.
Gus was a man of his word and as a result: Maud Wagner later became recognised as America’s first female tattoo artist.
